Main Sources of Green Energy

As the prices of oil and gas are rising day by day, there is much need of alternate energy resources in the world today. It is also important that alternate energy resources are Green. By green, it means they are not hazardous for our environment. In recent years, there have been lot of focus of these green energy resources. We can save our environment and also save the planet if we only use green energy resources.

Natural renewable resources like sun, water and wind come under the category of green resources.  These resources replenish naturally that’s why these are called renewable. Other resources like oil and gas are non-renewable and are also depleting with the passage of time.

That is the main reason why these sources of energy are inexpensive. They cost almost nothing as compared to other resources but their exploitation is costly. However, with the passage of time the exploitation cost will also come down.  Here are some of the energy sources available today.

Hydropower

Hydropower is the energy produced by the water movement. Currently this type of green energy is most common. Mostly, hydropower is generated from the big hydroelectric dams but it is also generated from other smaller hydroelectric facilities.  However, they are not considered to be too eco-friendly, as they damage the balance of the nature. That is the main reason that now a days, there is more focus on damless hydro systems. Through these systems energy is being generated from oceans currents and tides.

Solar Energy

Energy is generated directly from sun. This type of green energy source is accessible to everyone and can be used for both small and large scale. It can be used to generate electricity for everyone who can afford to install the solar energy system. It can be used for both homes and commercial buildings. Solar energy can be used in two ways, passive approach and active approach. In active approach the material of the building is such that stores energy from the sun. However, in active approach panels are installed which store energy from sun. In addition to the panel there is also a system installed for converting this stored energy to electricity.

Wind Energy

Wind turbines are used in areas which the speed of wind is very fast. It is usually successful near oceans, mountain and desserts etc. all those places where wind is fast. Wind energy is currently used by many countries.

Geothermal Energy

This kind of energy comes from the volcanic activity. It is not only difficult but also expensive. However its operational cost is very low. It is a good potential for future.
